Peter joined Advanced Semiconductor Materials Lithography (ASML) and the Board of Management in 1999 as Executive Vice President and CFO. Prior to joining ASML, he worked as a partner at Deloitte Accountants. He currently holds numerous high-level positions alongside his role as CEO of ASML. These positions include Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Eindhoven University of Technology, council member of the Dutch Top Sector High Tech Systems and Materials, and member of the Netherlands Institute of Registered Accountants. As of 2021, ASML was reported to have a near monopoly for machines used by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung Electronics.
