Brandenburg germany is a region that has seen a recent surge in startup activity historically the area has been home to a number of successful entrepreneurs including the founder of the famous german car company audi the region is located in the eastern part of germany and has a population of around 25 million people in terms of technological innovation brandenburg has been at the forefront of renewable energy with a number of companies focused on developing and implementing sustainable energy solutions additionally the region has a number of universities that are known for their strong engineering and science programs some of the most successful companies to come out of brandenburg include solar panel manufacturer solon se and biotech company biontech the region is also home to a number of international companies including siemens and basf one of the key historical events that brandenburg is known for is the fall of the berlin wall in 1989 which led to the reunification of germany this event had a significant impact on the region as it opened up new opportunities for trade and investment in terms of the local economy the living wage in brandenburg is around 10 per hour and the unemployment rate is currently at 65 the city level gdp is around 60 billion while the startup scene in brandenburg is still relatively new there has been a recent surge in activity with a number of new companies starting up in the region however there are still challenges to be overcome including access to funding and a lack of experienced entrepreneurs overall the startup scene in brandenburg is showing signs of promise and with continued investment and support it has the potential to become a major player in the european startup ecosystem
