The First Computer “Bug”

The first computer "bug" was found on September 9, 1947, by Grace Hopper, an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral. The "bug" was a moth that had gotten stuck in one of the relays of the Harvard Mark II computer, causing a malfunction. Hopper taped the moth into her logbook and wrote "First actual case of bug being found". This incident is often cited as the origin of the term "computer bug".
