When I joined Reddit in late 2016, I was faced with a unique challenge: tripling the size of the <a href="https://hackernoon.com/tagged/engineering" target="_blank">engineering</a> organization within a year. At the time there were about 35 engineers on the team and a small number of “tech leads,” but there was little in the way of official <a href="https://hackernoon.com/tagged/management" target="_blank">management</a> structure in engineering.
